Purpose: To understand more about the Holy Spirit
Key text: John 14:26
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”

Introduction:
I want to share about the Holy Spirit because as the Holy Spirit seldom described in the bible in neutral position, like airstream or spirit, some have determined that he was neutral and a kind of heavenly supremacy. In their opinion, the Holy Spirit is more similar with electrical neither than standing as a particular Existence. But we have to know that this sermon will bring more understand about the personality of the Holy Spirit. And it will show the scriptures we need to know regarding about the personality of the Holy Spirit and to know more thorough image in our mind. The Bible truth will support us a better understand the part of God’s heavenly Spirit in our life.

Body
I.          Personality of the Holy Spirit
We need to think deeply about the Holy Spirit, who is as much a person as God is a person and this thought is begin by the principles. The Holy Spirit bear witness to God, only a person can bear witness. In 1 Corinthians 2:9 we read, “‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him’ - but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man's spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God” (1 Corinthians 2:9-11). The evidence of the Holy Spirit is a real person and the personal
I want to proof that the Holy Spirit is a real person is from the fact that personality evidences from the scriptures are as the followings:
      1)      The Holy Spirit is spoken of as having understanding. (I Corinthians 2:9-11)
      2)      The Holy Spirit is spoken of as having a will. (I Corinthians 12:11.)
      3)      The Holy Spirit is spoken of as having power.( Romans 15:13)
      4)      The Holy Spirit is credited with acts and deeds; therefore, he must be a person. (Genesis 1)
      5)      The Holy Spirit is credited with influencing and moving men to write and speak the Word of God; therefore, he must be a person. (2 Peter 1:21)
      6)      The Holy Spirit is credited with regenerating the soul; therefore, he must be a person. (Ephesians 2:1)
By looking these scriptures, the Holy Spirit can understand like the people, He has a will, we works within human beings. He influences us to speak the God’s word and the good deed in our life. He also regenerating the souls, therefore he is a person.

II.       Jesus’ Explanation of the Holy Spirit
Jesus concerned his disciples, he does not want to leave alone like an orphans. But He vowed to give another Helper or Comforter. The words that Jesus uses here are important. He vowed to give another Helper, not the unlike one. The Greek word for "another" is "allos." It means Jesus will send another comforter. In the Greek language of the New Testament "allos" indicates that Christ will send another comforter who is statistically well-defined but the same character, alike with Jesus.  In other hand, Jesus vowed to give one very similar with Him. The one who will the place of him, and to continue the work of Christ among us. Helping and comforting others is the work of the Holy Spirit. In the text used the Greek word “parakletos” (John 14:16) it means to show somebody is named to help and to support other or someone. Jesus is a Person, Holy Spirit is also personal, and this is the scripture show in the Bible. ( John 14:26, 15:26, Acts 15:28).
Be in harmony with Jesus, the Holy Spirit leads, speaks, perceives, reveals the truth, and exalts Jesus (John 16:13, 14).
1.      The Holy Spirit moreover explain and repeat us (John 14:26).
2.       He abides in us (John 14:17),
3.      He give evidences (John 15:24, 26) and
4.       He condemns (John 16:8).
These are more complete in the personality than neutral, Jesus explains to us about the Holy Spirit clearly for us through his life and the scriptures.

III. The Holy Spirit does like the people do
1) Teaches (John 14:26; John 16:12-14)
When we read the texts, that the Holy Spirit, who is called the Spirit of truth, teaches and guides the believer into all truths. In these passages, the Holy Spirit is set forth as teacher of the truth who personally comes to us to teach us the truth, not a mere illumination that enables our mind to see the truth.

2) Guides
The Holy Spirit is represented in Romans 8:14 as our personal guide who takes us by the hand to direct and lead us into doing things that are pleasing to God. We can see in Acts 16:6-7, we see the Holy Spirit taking command of the life and conduct of a servant of Jesus Christ when He did not permit Paul and his companions to preach in Asia and Bithyna. We also see the Holy Spirit calling men to work and appointing them to office in Acts 13:2 and Acts 20:28.
3) Comforts
We are told in John 14:16-17 that the Holy Spirit is to be “another Comforter” who would take the place of our Savior Jesus Christ who has gone back to be with the Father. The word translated “comforter” means so much more than just the word itself and that is why the revisers found a great deal of difficulty in translating the Greek word.
The Greek word “parakleetos” means one who stands by your side as your helper, counselor, comforter and friend. Jesus Himself had been the parakleetos to His disciples; the one who stood by their side “I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” – John 14:18. When Jesus was about to leave the disciples, He said that He would not leave them orphaned (John 14:18), but that He would pray the Father to send them another Comforter to take His place. It wouldn’t have made sense for Jesus to say this if the One who was going to take His place was only an influence or power and not a person.

Conclusion
In my conclusion, I hope that all of you understand more about the Holy Spirit deeper in your life. The Scriptures make it plain that the Holy Spirit is a Person. I honestly think that most of us believe this. But do we really delight Him as a person in our real thoughts and in our practical attitude towards Him? Do we really believe Him as a real person as the God the Father?  Do we regard Him as a real person as Jesus Christ, worthy of our love, adoration and surrender? Do we persistently walk in conscious communion with Him? Understanding the doctrine of the personality of the Holy Spirit is of the highest importance because if we think of the Holy Spirit only as an impersonal power or influence, we will be constantly thinking about how to get hold of and use Him. But if we acknowledge the Holy Spirit as a divine Person, we will be always thinking about how He can get hold of and use us. The Holy Spirit not only walks by our side every moment of every day; He will dwell among in our hearts and lives and is always ready to take complete possession of our lives.

Appeal:
I want to invite you to fully submitted and surrendered our life to the Holy Spirit is the secret of a real Christian life, a life of fullness, joy, power and liberty. Believe him He is a real God as of the Father, Son. He will dwell among us to lead in the right way to heaven and will teach divine things. Be ready to receive and let your heart to enter in your heart and mind. He will lead to the heavenly home.
May the good Lord bless you all and guide you to understand more about the Holy Spirit. May the guidance and leading, molding your life for heaven. God bless you all! Amen
